Blue Experiment

This was blue week for Show & Tell.

The children were able to mix and experiment with blue jello, blue glitter glue, blue coloured water, baking soda and vinegar.

They were quite curious about the foaming of their mixture, but at this point there has been no further questions or wonderings about the foaming.

I may add the vinegar and baking soda during yellow week to see if the children start to question what is happening.

My goal is to set up inquiries that will foster learning that the children are interesting in exploring further.  At this point they are very eager to try new things.

This next photo shows what 22 students can quickly do to the writing center when they have the opportunity to play with bingo dabbers.  Coloured dabs of paint everywhere.

Terry Fox Run

The whole school participated in the Terry Fox run on Thursday afternoon.
When I asked the kids what the best part was they said, "The running."

We then had Popsicles - Yummy.
They kids loved showing off their coloured tongues.

Sand Pit

We went our to the sand pit this week.  The children loved playing in the sand and running in the back field.  There is a lot of mathematical learning that can take place in the sand so we come out here often.
I'm hoping that soon we will have a sand box in the front K/1 playground.

Our Big Buddy's

Our Big Buddy class is Mrs. Padgham's grade 2 class.  We have met two time so far this year, both meetings have involved getting to know each other and reading.
The classes will get together once a week for reading, play or projects.
Ask your child if they know their Big Buddy's name?
