Kindergarten News – September 2013

        I’m looking forward to meeting your child and getting started on our year. Students will start off learning rules and routines that will help the class function in an effective manner.  Our class rules are:

Be Kind

&

Work Hard

The school is having an Open House on Thursday September 12 – 6:30 – 7:30.  I will not be able to attend as I have classes for my graduate diploma on Thursday’s.  You are welcome to come and visit the school.  There will be an assembly at 7:10.

We will be playing outside every day so please have your child wear shoes that they can easily run and play in. 

   I’m looking for a few volunteer’s to help run our Talking Tables program.  Talking Tables is an oral language program that helps student with language development.  It also helps to build pre-reading skills.  Talking Tables works best if it’s run three times a week.  You can work either in the morning (8:45) or afternoon (1:00).  It takes about 90 minutes to do all groups. 

Friday, September 20 is a Professional Development Day so there is no school for your children.

Thursday, September 26 is the Terry Fox run.  We will be running around the back track in the afternoon.  You are welcome to join us for an assembly and then come on the run.

School picture day is Friday, September 27. 

If you haven’t paid your child’s school fees please do so ASAP.

If you have an emergency please call the school at 604-858-4510.  It’s also important for you to call the school when your child will be absent. 

Please check your child’s communication book daily and return to school every day.
