September Workstations

We started Workstations today.  They work in small groups at this time and work at an assigned workstation.  Today most groups were math based but this will soon include literacy activities.  These activities are play based and help students learn at their own pace.

Your child MUST stay with their group through the whole time we do workstations and this early in the year it is often the hardest thing for the children to learn.  Over time we work up to about 10 - 15 minutes per station - today we did 3 minutes.

Most of the time we will have two workstations and then we shift into Exploration time.  During Exploration time students are able to pick any workstation to work at. I also do small group work during this time.

Pattern Blocks - students can create designs and pictures.

Unifix cubes - the children can create patterns

Jumbo dominoes - these are often used for building towers.

Cruisenaire Rods - building, sorting, measurement

Printing & Letter Puzzle

Widgits - used for building towers

Mobilio - building vehicles and structures
